Pay your taxes early to get a discount. If the appeal is successful, you will receive the refund from the department of revenue.
In case you do not pay, and the appeal is denied there will be late fees!
New for 2010:
You can still file your petition late, if you have a good cause. There is no more deadline for that. It has to be done in person at the Value Adjustment Board. Just bring a letter with you explaining what stopped you from filing on time.
New for 2009:
The Homestead Exemption doubles to $ 50,000.
The annual increases for non-homesteaded properties will be capped to no more than 10% increase per year starting in 2009.
The "portability" gives the right for homesteaded owners to move Save Our Homes benefits to a new homesteaded property.
